The Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC applies to any product designed or intended to be used for play by children under the age of 14.
The Directive determines, in fact, the safety criteria and the essential requirements which toys must meet at the time of their manufacture and before being placed on the market.
The manufacturer or importer of toys must meet the essential requirements mentioned above by carrying out tests in accordance with harmonized product standards and performing a risk analysis for safety purposes before being able to affix the CE marking on products.
CSI, as a Notified Certification Body, is able to certify the suitability of toys to the essential requirements by testing its EN 17025 accredited laboratories and, when applicable, to issue EC type examination certificates.
