High Performance Bag Certification

CSI issues the High Performance Bag product certification: a unique and innovative certification at European level, which introduces the concept of quality, in terms of performance, of bags based on their compliance with the specific applicable standards.

The evaluation criteria, depending on the type of product, concern shape, size, volume and above all the requirements (resistance to static, dynamic and tensile loads) that the bags must meet in order to provide performance appropriate to their intended use.
The latter characteristics are increasingly requested by users of bags (e.g. shoppers), starting from Large and Medium Organised Distribution, who are attentive both to the environmental requirements of such packaging and to its quality performance.
It is precisely the performance guarantees offered to users by this new brand that give manufacturers the opportunity to gain a competitive advantage and enhance the value of their products on the market.

The types of products considered concern both compostable and non compostable materials, for the transport of goods distributed to retailers and for waste collection.
The certifiable products are:

  • shoulder bags (shoppers) made of biodegradable and compostable flexible thermoplastic film for the transport of retail goods (UNI 11415)
  • plastic bags for household waste collection and biodegradable and compostable bags for the collection of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (hereinafter referred to as MSW (EN 13592)
  • paper bags for household waste collection (EN 13593).

 

Building and Glass for Construction Industry Certification


It is a certification destined to three product categories intended for building and construction industry:

  • insulating glass units following the standard UNI EN 1279;
  • thermally treated glass (tempered and hardened) following the standards UNI EN 12150 and UNI EN 1863;
  • laminated glass following the standards UNI EN 12543 and UNI EN 14449.

The products that obtain this certification are capable to guarantee the maintenance of very high quality as subjected to strict and frequent controls.

The reference standards used are the same applicable to the CE certification, in comparison to which, for some process parameters, they have additional requirements, allowing to level up the performance.

 

Certification of Fire Doors and Closing Elements

It is a certification for doors and other closing elements that assesses the fire resistance of these products according to national and international reference standards.

The products, which obtain this certification, are able to guarantee the maintenance over time of very high quality standards thanks to the controls carried out which also meet the applicable legislation in Italy.

Alongside this product certification, certification of the installation and maintenance service of fire-resistant doors and windows in compliance with UNI 11473 can also be requested.

In addition to the characteristics of fire resistance through laboratory tests, specific aspects such as, for example, are subject to verification:

  • supply of materials,
  • product identification and traceability,
  • controls on the production process,
  • checks on finished products,
  • complaints,
  • technical documentation of the product, semi-finished products and components.

 

 Examination of the application and documentation sent by the Company, listed in the "Special rules" specific to the product to be certified. Any deficiencies and significant deviations from the requirements, found at this stage, will be communicated so that the appropriate changes can be introduced before the assessment visit is carried out. Upon request, CSI will appoint an inspector to visit the organisation to verify the conformity of the product, process or service. If the results of the visit include non-conformities or observations, a corrective action plan will be required to meet the requirements for the issue of the product certificate. After all the non-conformities that may have emerged from the assessment visit have been passed, and after the positive outcome of the laboratory tests, certification will be granted. The issue of the certificate will be followed by surveillance visits to verify that compliance is being maintained. The frequency of surveillance visits and laboratory tests, if any, is fixed by the special rules applicable. The certification shall have the validity defined in the specific special rules, on expiry the contract shall be deemed to be tacitly renewed unless terminated by one of the two contracting parties 4 (four) months before the expiry date.
