Fully assembled bicycles or specific components, the CSI laboratories boast state-of-the-art equipment for carrying out all types of tests also for the purpose of compliance with Directive 2001/95 / EC "Product safety - general rules", mandatory for placing safe products on the market.

In particular, as regards the components, the tests performed concern: saddle, frame, fork, wheels, pedals in order to obtain the conformity certification of the components themselves. The checks on fully assembled bicycles instead concern:

Reference standards

CSI carries out the tests and issues the certification of conformity according to the following standards:

  • EN ISO 4210 series: Terms and definitions - Requirements for city and trekking bicycles, youth bicycles, mountain and racing bicycles - Common test methods - Braking, steering, frame and fork test, wheels and rims, pedal and system unit, saddle and seat post.
  • EN ISO 8098:2014: Cycles - Safety requirements for children's bicycles.

Why CSI

CSI laboratories are equipped with test benches and specific equipment to verify compliance with the new harmonized standards - ISO 4210/8098 - in terms of bicycle safety. The guarantee of a safe pedaling is completed, at CSI, with the verification that the child transport seat meets the safety requirements of the EN 14344 standard and that the helmets comply with the EN 1078 standard.
