Fire doors are one of the primary areas where CSI has been operating for more than 20 years, even before that, with the D.M. 14.12.1993 which sanctioned the beginning of the approval of fire doors following the classification according to UNI 9723.
Today CSI operates in the field of fire resistance classification of a wide spectrum of closures, doors, windows, sliding doors, landing doors for lifts, both according to the Italian standard and the European standard, UNI EN 1634-1.
The UNI EN 1634-1 standard, in its first version, that of 2001, came into force with the D.M. of 21 June 2004, alongside the national standard, UNI 9723, currently still in force, as a method for verifying fire resistance performance; both standards make it possible to classify the fire resistance of closures with fire resistance requirements and to be able, subsequently, to obtain the mandatory approval from the Ministry of Domestic Affairs . The substantial difference between the national standard and the European standard lies in the fact that the classifieds issued according to the national standard UNI 9723 cannot be used for the CE marking of fire doors according to EN 16034.
The new classification service for smoke control (or smoke-tight) doors according to UNI EN 1634-3, completes the range of activities that CSI carries out in the field of doors and closures with fire resistance and smoke control requirements, with the aim to be able to offer a complete service in the field of CE marking of fire doors.
Landing doors for lifts are no longer subject to ministerial approval since 2006 but, since then, CSI is the only body to offer the accredited testing and classification service according to UNI CEI EN ISO / IEC 17025, based on European standard UNI EN 81-58.
