Many product categories fall within the scope of specific directives and regulations. CSI supports the interpretation of EU provisions with the analytical service for the verification of compliance with the chemical parameters of the law also for packaging intended for contact with food. Some substances used in the manufacture of food contact materials are also subject to REACH registration procedures if the materials in question are manufactured or imported into the EU.
The importation of plastic films or finished packaging consists in the importation of articles ", where" article "means an object which, during production, is given a shape that determines its function.
For articles there is the obligation to communicate to the recipient if there are substances of very high concern (SVHC, listed in the candidate list and constantly updated) in quantities greater than 0.1% substance weight / article weight: each producer and importer of articles is required to follow these updates to comply with their obligations.
Films or articles generally do not need to be accompanied by a safety data sheet (sometimes they are instead accompanied by a non-legislated document defined as a Safety Data Sheet), which is instead required for dangerous substances or mixtures.
CSI is able to verify the presence of highly problematic substances (SVHC) and verify compliance with the restrictions set out in the annexes of the Reach Regulation (Reg. N ° 1907/2006).
